Hot Water Tank Replacement

Well, we had us a little emergency Thursday night when our hot water tank started leaking. We let our landlord know, but as it was 9:30 at night, it was a little late to come look at it that night, so after trying to instruct me how to find the switch to shut off the water heater (which I didn't find) he said he'd come in the morning.
Mom woke up around one o'clock in the morning smelling burning wire. She got up to check on the water heater to discover that the leak was coming from the electrical panel on the side. (I knew it had been coming from a panel, but I didn't know at the time that it was the electrical panel. Now I know better.) So she woke me up and we cleared out as much of the stuff from the laundry room as we could so that she could have room to look closer and find a way to turn off the tank. She found a knob and thought that might be it. She said I could go back to bed and - after telling her that she could wake me if she needed me - I went to bed. Though it did take me a while to fall asleep, mind you. (Well, would you fall asleep right away if you knew there was a problem with your tank?)
But the next day, yesterday, we cleared out the rest of the stuff from the laundry room and mopped up the water from the floor. Alfred came in, disconnected the water tank and drained it through a hose, then brought in a new tank. It's shorter and wider, but, according to him, the new tank is more energy smart.
Whew! Crisis averted.
However, it seems that we have very little water pressure coming from the kitchen sink. The bathroom works just fine. Mom said it was possible that Alfred didn't turn the water back on fully (or something like that).
