I had completely forgotten that I had submitted a poem to Blue Mountain Arts' poetry contest last year. This morning when the mail came, I discovered a large envelope from them. It turns out that my poem was one of many chosen to advance to the market review - testing my work with a market audience for its potential as a greeting card. The review could take up to 24 months, but they'll try to move that along as quickly as possible. Which means that there is a possibility that my poem could be published as a greeting card! And I'd get paid for it.
Blue Mountain sent a publication agreement for me to sign. We are so excited, but we were surprised to see that they want my social security number. I don't know if that's standard or not, but mom and I are concerned and I'll be e-mailing them to ask why they need it.
But that is amazing to think that something I wrote could be on a greeting card!
