Wockenfuss Family circa 1891

A couple months ago, a woman out in Arizona contacted me because she had seen a change I'd made to an ancestor on FamilySearch.org.  She asked if we were related through this ancestor - Friedrich William Wockenfuss - and it turns out we are; me through his second youngest son Louis Martin, she through his oldest son Gustav, who is actually from his first wife who died while still in Germany along with five other children.  Friedrich then married Augusta F. Ristau and had seven children.  At some point, Gustav went west from Baltimore to Colorado, where my Arizona relative Corinne is originally from.

We've been communicating and she said and her brother had some old pictures from when my great-grandfather Louis and a couple other brothers came out to visit Gustav's family.  I can't wait till we can get copies of those pictures.

However, just a few days ago, the woman e-mailed me and said she'd been looking through some old photos and found a family photo of the Wockenfuss' around 1891.

I was SO overjoyed to get this photo, and to know who is who in the photo, as provided by the notation at the bottom of the photo, copied from the back.

Back row:  Helen Augusta, his oldest by second wife Augusta; Gustav E. (Corinne's great-grandfather), from Friedrich's first wife Wilhelmina Witkowski; and Johannas Philemon

Center row: Carl Henry, Mrs. Augusta (Ristau) Wockenfuss, William Frederick, Mr. Friedrich Wockenfuss, and Paul Frederick

The small boys in front: Louis Martin (my great-grandfather) and Edward John Conrad Wockenfuss

Thank you Corinne!!!  I love finding family.
