Civil War diaries

So I came home from the library yesterday with 13 books, 10 of them about the Civil War, one of which was Captain James Wren's Civil War Diary: from New Bern to Fredericksburg.  As I'm starting to read it, I've been wondering if my 3rd-great grandfather Barzilla Jewett kept a diary during his service in the Civil War.  All I know about his service is that he was mustered in as a Private, served in Co. K of the 18th Regiment of the Ohio Infantry and had risen to the rank of Corporal when he was mustered out.

The only picture we have of him is when he is much older, sometime before his death in September 1924.  There he is on the far right of the photo standing next to my great-grandmother Grace Jewett (third daughter of the family).  Also in the photo - which a digital copy is in our possession thanks to my great-aunt Ruth who got it, and just over 400 other ancestry photos from her aunt Mary Ellen Jewett, baby sister of Grace - are, from left to right, Emmett Grant Jewett, his wife Maggie Archer Jewett, the two dogs Fox and Paddy, Mary Ellen (the youngest), Sylvia Gertrude (second-oldest),  and Letha Mildred (oldest).

I wish we had more info about him.  I love Civil War and family history stuff.  I want to make a family history album with all these photos, or as many as I can, but we'll see what happens.
