Can we clone President Uchtdorf?

Every time I hear that man speak, it's no wonder he was called as an apostle.  I wish I'd typed up more notes of what he said during tonight's CES fireside, but hopefully I'll soon be able to print out the text of his talk and have it for myself.

I've honestly never heard the full story of Hans Christian Anderson's "Ugly Duckling", but President Uchtdorf gave a great version of it.  And, of course, applied it to us, how there are too many who "go about life thinking they are of little worth, when in reality they are elegant and eternal creatures of infinite value with a potential beyond imagination."  He reminded us that "[we] are sons and daughters of the greatest most glorious being in the universe. He wants the best for you."

Um, wow!!

He shared some questions that young adults had asked him.  One of the questions was something like, is it okay to question our beliefs?

"We are a question-asking people," President Uchdorf said. "We know that inquiry leads to truth. That’s how the Church got its start. ... I’m not sure how one can discover truth without asking questions.”

"Inquiry is the birthplace of testimony. Asking questions isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s a precursor of growth."  I love that.

"Searching for answers to your questions can bring you closer to Father, strengthening your testimony rather than shaking it."

This man is a wonderful example.  His very words set you on fire.  I can't wait to see if I can print this talk out.

  1. I agree it was a great talk. I watched it on BYU TV over the internet. Let me know if you get the text of it. :)

  2. The text of President Uchtdorf's talk will be available on the lds.org website sometime in November. All of the previous CES fireside talks are also available on the website in a variety of formats.
