New Stocking

So since we still can't find the white embroidered stocking that I've been using the past few years, I thought, maybe I could make one from the leg of a pair of black denim pants that I can't wear again until they're made into a skirt.

Well, I checked in all of mom's fabric crates for the pants and accompanying skirt but couldn't find them, though I knew they were somewhere.  Finally, after checking nearly every container - counting the ones in Granny's shed - I'm on the way back from the shed when I realize  Oh... yeah... I remember seeing them in a bag in the ATTIC.  D'oh!

After digging around under some of the other clothing bags in the attic, I find what I'm looking for.  I trace one of the other stockings already hanging up, leaving space around it for a seam of course - I do remember that much from a sewing class in middle school .  I even pinned it before cutting it out!  LOL

Mom helped me find her embroidery cards and choose patterns to embroider onto one of the pieces.  I ended up changing my mind from my original idea to something more tropical - hibiscuses and brightly colored stars!!

Once I finished with the embroidering, Mom offered to do the actual sewing together the pieces and attaching the ribbon.  Here is the finished product!

Below is a close up of the designs. : )

13 days till Christmas and counting!~!
